I have been with Hostgator for a good many years now, gone through several different host packages (as finances dictated) and a few years ago setup a further 2 accounts, 2 for the company I work for and one personal.
I recently had a crash and lost the passwords to some of the accounts, I could not recall the usernames or passwords for the 2, and your stupid system insists I login to the billing account to reset my password, well, I cant remember that one either can I , so I duly contacted support on chat, as I have done for years, and the person (I wont mention his name) was useless. After I explained the issue in detail, explained that him sending me the popup to login to billing was not of any use to me since I could not remember it, he went silent.
I have to be honest here, back when Hostgator were not so big they were great, flexible, and their support was second to none, but as Hostgator have grown their support and service level have dwindled, as is often the case with companies that grow too large.
I still have my issue, I have no way in which to relay it to you other than a phone call, I cant email you because I am required to provide my billing password.
What a stupid system, and one that would seem to have no alternative method in which to confirm I am who I am.
