Well, after almost 2 years of "construction" I'm almost ready to go "Live."
I built my site offline on a "Baby Gator" account. It worked out well as thus I didn't have
financial pressures to hurry and could take as much time as necessary to get it right.
Like all of us who build websites we imagine our sites as th Next "Web sensation" but still
have to be realistic when it comes to single developer costs as it is well known that a
high percentage of these kind of sites "fail" after a short time.
The site will be run by the CMS script, Joomla, with Community Builder and CB Subs, A Forum
and Gallery for Registered Users only ,enhanced by a PHP subdomain creation script.
This site will be the 1st of 3 related "Theme" based sites, (others to come, the good Lord
willing)
The Concept encorporates a free membership site that promotes user imput of Articles and
short stories, on an "approved before publication" basis.
Priemium (paid) services would allow instant user publication without approvals.
Future, Add ons for an additional fee include: Subdomain Name and small hosting account, as
well as a New Domain Name and moderate hosting account.
All funds would be collected via PayPal or mail in so no Financial data will be stored on
site.
Hosting would be availabe only to Registered Users, or occationally given away as "prizes"
for certain promotions.
I think I need all the "automated" help I can get, enon, Wham Autopiolet ???
After Launch I would purchase Site Lock (any feedback on thier services?) to help "harden"
the site from Hackers.
After careful consideration I think a Silver Reseller account would be the logical Starting
Upgrade for me? Upgradeable as necessary and ultimately to a Dedicated server (after I
learn how to manage, and only if I'm not one of those who "go under" quickly)
Is there any reason this kind of site wouldn't work well on a reseller account?
Keep in mind I'm 65 years old and have been working towards this "dream" for over 10 years
when I first discovered the Internet and Computers!!
My time on this stage is limited and I need to get it right soon!!
I have designed and Hosted a few Websites in the past (still do elsewhere) but I'm more
into the design and this one will be the first full blown project I've ever attempted.
I assume HG will help me move the site to it's new "home"; Reseller act. or??) and be there
to help me as I get the "bugs" out?? and hopefully grow.
Any advise or sugestions would be greatly appreciated!!
