Restoring a MySQL Database Question

Hello,

I have a question about backing up and restoring MySQL Database from Host Gator Control Panel. I try live chat but they didn't give me a clear answer, so maybe I get a better answer here.

I have a IPBoard running and I did a MySQL Database backup couple day ago. Host Gator Control Panel, Backup, then click on my Database and download the .gz

For restoring the MySQL Database, should I delete my Database first before uploading the new one? Or should I just upload the Database and it will overwritten the file? Which way is better. I go ahead and upload it without deleting any Database. Will this be ok?
