Hello all,
I am a little bit confused about AddonDomains and the possible ways of creating them. Lets take an example.
server domain: myserver.com
main site : mainsite.com
Alternative domain name to main site: mainsite2.com, mainsite3.com
The creation of mainsite.com is rather easy. We go to Addon domains and simply put mainsite.com, the folders etc are completed automatically.
Now my question starts with the creation of the other 2 addons. When I am about to create them I have 2 options:
1)Create them and point to the folder of mainsite.com Which actually is myserver.com/mainsite.com
2)Create them and point to the suggested folder which actually is myserver.com/mainsite2.com
After I can redirect them to to mainsite.com
So what is the difference in those solutions?
I am currently using the first way. As far as I know address bar will always show mainsite.com. Also seperate stats will be availabe for every domain name. Is there something different in the second way? Is it more preferred?
Another option could be the Redirections(301). What is the best way to implement 10 alternative names for a main domain and not hurt Google ranking ?:banghead:
Another question for the above setup regarding mail accounts.
Lets say we create info@mainsite.com. We want to implement this account to the alternative domains too. Shall we create info@mainsite2.com and redirect to info@mainsite.com? Or is it better to use Email Domain Forwarders?
In case I activated Email Domain Forwarders for mainsite2.com to point to mainsite.com, and there are 3 mail acoounts in mainsite.com lets say a@mainsite.com, b@mainsite.com and c@mainsite.com
If an e-mail is sent to b@mainsite2.com that will eventually be delivered to b@mainsite.com. Is that right?:suspicious:
:thanks:
