I've upgraded and downgraded my hosting plan with HostGator several times since early 2008.
Always the process of managing propagation of nameservers was a nail biter situation, You know .. is it or isn't it done yet and "damn it I have to edit all sorts of crap" in order to see my site before and during propagation.
Well no more!!
Yesterday I moved from VPS back to shared and was pleasantly surprised to see an email explaining the new SWAMP feature of DNS cache viewing.
I was able to view and track progress of changes and opened my site back to user activity knowing that I would not have to merge a database.
Thanks guys !!
Now here's a suggestion !!
How about including Cpanel in ALL levels of VPS that way I can simply throttle up and down between VPS 1 and 3 as my needs warrant it.
This way I NEVER have to screw with changing my name servers again.
Also, you charge me ~$9 for a shared account, and a level 1 vps is ~$15 ... so it seems to me you would WANT me to stay in VPS as you are losing ~$7 monthly during that time.
I move up and down in server packages because my user base has seasonal flows. And the is no reason to keep a level 3 vps for just me and 8 dudes, BUT I could justify keeping a level 1 if it had cpanel.
Seems to me that VPS 1 and 2 are practically non usable to folks coming from a shared, cpanel, environment.
Bottom line:
1. Swamp = great !!
2. Reassigning name servers always sucks.
3. Cpanel at ALL levels of VPS would be sweeet !
Well there's my 2C ! :thumbsup::thanks:
